At Libertine we love perfume because we love experiencing the senses.
Taking the time to notice the world around you through all of your senses is the first step in creating a deeper connection to our own lives. Experiencing the subtle pleasures of one's sense enhances the pleasures available to us in each moment. We become attuned to what we love and more available to what intrigues us.
Libertine is an act of creative expression, a refuge for beauty and curiosity. No celebrity endorsement, no marketing meant to make you feel lesser than, no gender stereotyping; just the highest quality aromatic materials, beautiful design and amazing fragrances.

About the founder
Joshua Smith is a forester turned industrial designer turned perfume maker from the wide open plains of Canada. His switch from forestry into design was rooted in a deeply seeded drive to create. He became disillusioned however, by the idea of designing products for a large corporate entity as he began noticing just how much the marketing was aimed at making people feel lesser than to sell them mediocre products.
Rather than creating products that jumped on trends to scrape up as many possible sales he dreamt of creating honest objects that sparked joy and intrigue in those that used them. He dreamt of creating things that people could enjoy and love for what it did for them, not how it made them look to the world. In seeking out those things in his own life that created an emotional impact, that gave pause, he began to notice the items that most did that were based around the senses. Objects that very purposefully used materials to create sensory experiences and of all the senses, he found scent to be the most captivating.
This led down an obsessive path of exploration and study of perfumes, the plants and molecules used to create them and the deep relationship mankind has had with the olfactory world. From this study an idea formed of a line of perfumes that celebrated the senses, the deep enjoyment of the world and the appreciation of the self.
